I was born in 1980 in Abadan, a beautiful border town in Southern Iran; shortly after my birth, this place became a ruin. The Iran-Iraq war began and we were war-torn. My lived experience is tied to forced migrations, letting go, reconstructions and searching for soil for taking root. My early images of my life represented my parents’ sustained efforts for maintaining minuscule ideals, values, and hopes of the big world, were all in gray. This is why I added color to my life and the world of painting saved my mind from the gray. After years of painting and experimenting with different types of media, and working in the field of visualization, conceptual arts and new media, I realized the archived aspects of my works: collecting data through my observations and turning them into a work of art. Which are more therapeutic and self-analytical. I consider myself as an archivist, and all of my current projects are adopting an archive-based approach.
